A little about the North Cam: The North Cam is the newest camera, although the view is the one most visitors are familiar with. The old camera that used to look north was a lower resolution cam (original Netcam from StarDot Technologies). The new cam is their higher resolution Netcam MP, and I'm sure you can see the difference. The original cam has been refurbished by StarDot with a new CCD sensor and is now the "SilverLakeView South Cam." It's a new view, but you can definitely see the lower resolution. I felt that most visitors would appreciate the higher resolution camera pointing north where the view was best. Over time, as new cams are added, they will be the higher resolution models and eventually phase out the lower resolution cam completely. But each high resolution Netcam MP camera is $800 (after rebate) and while it's worth every penny, that means donations will obviously play an important role in how many and how fast new cams are added. |
